“Our family has owned this property since the 60s,” he said. The enterprise was a dream of his father’s who died in 2008 and the waterfront sites along Virginia Creek have been a source of exploration and inspiration for Kraly through the years. “I’ve been coming here all of my adult life,” he said.

In fact, the more than 130 acres that extend from Sloop Point Road to the water are owned by the Kraly and Caison families. As you enter Crown Pointe, the historic pond and stately trees are a part of the 27 acre plot that Allen Caison purchased in 1977. The Kraly property borders the water and offers spectacular views of the Intracoastal Waterway and Topsail Island.

The Caisons have a long history in Pender County and Kraly said one of the goals of the developers is to maintain the natural look and feel of the property. To that end, it’s a bit different from other developments, he said. “This isn’t just an investor group coming in to develop a piece of land. Crown Point is about personal pride, tradition and a commitment to honor the past and the future.”

Because of the developers’ connections to the land, character has been a key factor in the design and development of Crown Pointe, he said.

“We want a high standard when it comes to the infrastructure and quality in the homes we build. For one thing, we wanted a really nice entrance, something that would set the development apart.” The streets and cul-de-sacs are named after English castles and the home plans are given jewel names such as The Opal, The Emerald and The Diamond. The homes are all brick with side entry garages and screened back porches.

Planners worked to create a neighborhood that is traditional but updated. “We wanted it to feel like a classic community with modern conveniences.”

“Homeowners are responding,” said Renatta Muse with Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Realty. “Home buyers appreciate the large wooded home sites and the access to outdoor activities such as canoeing and kayaking.”

The public is also welcome to tour Crown Pointe and view its three new model homes. Crown Pointe is open on Saturdays from noon–5 p.m.; Sundays from 1 p.m.–4 p.m.; and by appointment.

“We keep hearing from homeowners that they have looked everywhere from Pender to Brunswick Counties,” Kraly said, “and this is where they want to live.
