How to get toddlers to listen and behave? | Politically Correct ...

You need to stick t what you say. When you do, their behavior WILL change. If you give up, then wont learn. Your will is the one that MUST be stronger than theirs. Throw themselves on the floor? let them, ignore them. This is a attention sicking behavior. Times out dont wrk? this is how you do a proper time out: 1. Give a warning, 2. if they didnt listen after the warning, then straight to time out.- Choose a location not in their room but maybe somewhere like the living room in a corner, set a specific time on site you can use all the time, you must explain why they will do from time to clear and remind them you gave them a warning, etc 3. one minute per age of the child. then they both get 2 minutes and 1. NO 2 and a half years. And set the timer. 4. If they get out of the spot of their "off time" you without saying a word, on their back and re-set the timer. If you children, as seems to be happening now, continue to do so, you must also continue to do so until it completes an appropriate time outside. You Can not give up. once it took me 7 times! going back a forth, utting her back on her time out chair, and re-setting the timer, and hearing creams and kicks and all, until SHE gave up! 5. AFTER a proper time out is succesfully dne, have THEM expplain the WHY they were in time out. – with this you wanna mke sure they understand. If they cant talk, like my almost 2 year old. I still ask him and he mumbles, I say "yes" and then I explain again., but thats because he cant talk. My 4 year old can so SHE explains to me why she was on time out. 6. Child NEEDS to say sorry. then hugs and kisses after. IF the child doesnt want to say sorry. They return to their place until they are ready to say sorry. Give it a try. It will not wrk on the same day. and it is more likely that you will do a lt of travel until they do. but if you insist. that's what will do the job. You need to define rules and slow and simple. Awards to promote and pursue in good conduct. Consequenses like taking away rewards to stop bad behavior. Set cups with juice in the mornig. A timetable is my idea here. Say this is all the juice you'll get today, after you are done you can not have more. and effective means. they can not have it if you do not give it to them. You have to be strong, the problem here is that us parents smetimes we just dont want to deal with it. Then things get out of control and we go crazy. Key here is to Stick to what yu say and go deaf if you have to. May take weeks but they WILL get that what you say goes. Twos are a hard ages, full of trials! so your will must be stronger.
