These yard sales will appeal to guys

You’ve seen the “downsizing” yard sales, the “moving” yard sales, and the community and multi-family sales.

Here’s a different one: This weekend you can find a lot of guy stuff at a “my-wife-says-I’ve-got-way-too-much-stuff” sale.

If you hunt, fish, work on cars or build things, you’ll find something at the sale at 227 Willis Road in Fairview Twp.

It starts at 8 a.m. July 9, but you might want to be a little earlier than that.

You would have to go to a sporting goods store to find more hunting, fishing and outdoor equipment that there will be for sale by David Gilmore.

A partial list: accessories for hunting, trapping, fishing, automotive, construction elements, bows, bow and firearm, guard towers, two mobile home furnaces size of oil, a new propane fireplace gas , a motor boat, bikes, riding lawn mowers and dog kennels.

If this is not enough, so why not a five-person pedal boat? Or a video camera mounted on the bow?

Besides all the hunting and fishing stuff, you’ll also find games and a large number of military toy items such as action figures at Gilmore’s sale. And if you get hungry or thirsty, his children are baking up a storm and will have fresh-squeezed lemonade.

If you’re in the market for gold or silver coins there are a few available at the sale of Stan Albert July 8-9 at 700 N. Front St. in Wormleysburg. He has three gold coins, including a 1913 $2.5 dollar coin, and three silver coins.

Albert also has a gold railroad pocket watch that he says belonged to his great grandfather. Among his collectible items are a set of alabaster mushroom-shaped paper weights and Franklin Mint Corvette cars from 1953-60.

The sale runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.

On Main Street in Mechanicsburg you can pick up pieces of Depression glass, Currier and Ives items and collectible die-cast trucks in a sale that runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 8-9.

The multi-family sale at 55 E. Main St., features Diana, Cameo Ballerina, and Cloverleaf patterns in Depression glass. You’ll also find Fire-King bowls and Texaco and Coca-Cola die-cast trucks.

You also can pick up Depression glass at a three-day community yard sale at Williams Grove Mobile Home Park on Williams Grove Road in Monroe Twp.

If you stop by lot 62 you’ll find a selection of collectible items, Princess House items, old dishes and amber, green and pink Depression glass.
