Officials address flood recovery

Efforts in the region to recover from devastating floods this summer continues, although there is concern about how people succeed in the winter.

At a press conference Friday at City Hall, Federal Emergency Management Agency Federal Coordinating Officer Willie Nunn said the first FEMA trailers are set up and the agency looks at the feasibility of their implementation on private lands. Owners should contact Inspector units if their homes were not inspected within 10 to 15 days. There is a sense of urgency due to the proximity of winter.

The process will be substantially the same in the County of Ward.

City Engineer Lance Meyer said that the city is working with legislators on the regulations and is also working to bring more electricians to help carry out inspections and interviews with homeowners in the flood zone who want to do their own wiring .

I want to install a set of backup lights on my utility trailer so that they will come on when I put the truck in reverse. I am rewiring my trailer wiring from a flat 4-wire to a 5-wire cable. I have gotten two different answers on the color coding. One site says a red wire is standard for backup lights and the other says a purple wire is to be used. I just want to be consistant so anyone who uses my trailer will be wired the same. It appears the center plug is to be used for this application but I don't know if that's a constant power source that I have to add another switch to or it is activated by the transmission reverse switch or just tied into the backup light wiring.
