How else can one explain Christie Brinkley’s age-defying youthfulness, flawless sun-kissed complexion, slender legs and pneumatic curves that at an awards ceremony last month slipped into a shimmering silver micro-mini-dress that left nowhere for any flaw to hide?

How else to explain the attentions of 35-year-old Alex Rodriguez, the £20 million-a-year star of the New York Yankees baseball team and one of America’s most eligible bachelors, chatting up Brinkley this week, apparently forgetting his romance with actress Cameron Diaz?

And how else could the original supermodel – and the inspiration for her then-husband Billy Joel’s classic love song Uptown Girl – account for her unnatural exuberance as she is poised to make her West End stage debut starring as accused killer showgirl Roxie Hart in a revival of hit musical Chicago?

“This is something I had always dreamed of doing but never had the time or perhaps even the courage to pursue,” admits a stunning Brinkley, 57. “I didn’t know if I had the goods but I would rather go down in flames than spend the rest of my time wondering ‘What if?’ So, with a reckless abandonment and a hot pair of Louboutins, I marched into my audition ready to have some fun. And believe me, after four or five really tough years I was ready to have some fun.”

She narrowly escaped death in a helicopter crash and has endured four broken marriages. Her last humiliating divorce by a cheating husband proved one of America’s ugliest in modern memory. She has worried as her daughter Alexa struggled with depression and even took a drug overdose.

Yet an eternal optimist, she hopes Chicago’s four-week run at London’s Cambridge Theatre can turn things around, saying: “It’s not every day that one has an opportunity so rife with possibility, excitement and adventure.”

However her opening performance has been delayed after her mother fell ill and was taken to hospital in America this week.

Producers expect to name her new starting date shortly. By now Brinkley should have been celebrating a lifetime of successes after more than 500 magazine covers, a record 20-year contract as the face of Cover Girl cosmetics, developing her own lines of jewellery, skincare products and spectacles, endorsing a workout programme and amassing a £60 million collection of estates across the Hamptons in upstate New York.

I couldn’t get people to bring their helicopter to my factory for a free inspection before flight, but they wouldn’t come until 40 hours, then they shook it to death. I wish we could have organized them like that, but never happen.

Yes. This is a real helicopter, and requires just as many skills to fly as a helicopter costing millions of dollars. Although there is no other helicopter as affordable to fly and performs as well as the Mini-500 (for the $), there are no shortcuts to safely operate this helicopter. One of the problems with the Mini-500 was that 72% of the owners had less than 50 hours in helicopters, and 100% of everyone was flying a helicopter built by someone for the first time, and their mistakes too.
