Camelot – King Arthur retold. Again.
Is that it’s just not compelling enough. It’s not that the story has been told a hundred times before, because this iteration is sufficiently different for it to be genuinely interesting. Personally, I just don’t care about Arthur’s aspirations to make the people of the country free. Not enough plight is shown.This is one case where rape and pillaging would go down a treat.
Arthur himself just seems too young. Not being ageist, but he just comes across as pretentious when he talks about his rule, or his views on the state of the country. Perhaps a more worthy Arthur would get me excited about future episodes.
Merlin is the saving grace though. Rather than the usual old bearded man with a pointy blue hat, we’re treated to a darker, deeper Merlin who wouldn’t look out of place driving a cab.
Joseph Fiennes really amps up the eccentricity of the character, with the stares of his deep sunken eyes. Magic is used so sparingly that when it is used, it packs a punch.
Eva Green is convincing as Morgan, though she should spend less time sulking and more time doing. Scenes with Morgan really take the pace back.

Uther Pendragon, the King of Britain, was in love with a woman named Ygraine, who was married to one of the King's subjects.
