All laptop makers' batteries (unfortunately) not created equal
Q: I have a Toshiba E105-S1602 laptop. The battery has almost disappeared after less than two years and I bought a replacement online from a company website. It was half the price of a battery Toshiba officials. Within a week the computer was slow and buggy. I took the new battery, replaced it with the old and leave it plugged in. In one day, the computer began to function normally. Is it a coincidence or a non-battery actions make much difference? A friend had the same problem with a battery unofficial and his computer is never returned to normal.
- Dave Kirdahy the specifications of the battery are correct, the battery should not be the cause of your problem. After all, it's just supply power. But it is very important that the replacement battery provides power in a manner compatible.
However, keep in mind that the use of batteries, not the machine to the computer may void your warranty. In addition, some replacement batteries using inexpensive components can be cheaper and more likely to fail or present security risks.
Finally, I have long felt that it is shameful that the companies did not get together and agree on standards for power adapters so they would be more available and cheaper.
Q: I get a pop-up message that says "LELA 3.1 introduces security protection that blocks online threats before they enter your home network This release also improves stability and performance and provides a number of corrections important bugs .. " I do not know what LELA 3.1 is and I think it may be a potential virus or malware. It only gives me the option to "remember latest" or "Update Now", which I also find suspect.Any ideas?
- Margy Sturrock, Woodinville
A: I guess you have a Linksys wireless router? LELA is an acronym for Linksys EasyLink Advisor, which is a security software for this router. He just wants to be updated. If you do indeed have a Linksys router, I had to let it do its thing.
Q: A dilemma of inkjet cartridge is used. Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) cartridges can be expensive when the are not compatible. In my case, three sets of cartridges (one for each CMYK) than what I paid for the new MFC Brothers. Are there good reasons to use OEM vs. compatible? Warranty? Reliability? Why not use mail order?

Fun Tuna: Picking the Lock of Google's Search
Picking the lock of Google search. Picking the lock of Google search. BOB STROM is the owner of Ballard Lock & Key, which provides locksmith services in Seattle. If you live in the area and find yourself locked out of your car or home, this is a vital piece of information about the company by Mr. Strom; it exists. In this, the Haggler means that there is actually a guy named Bob Strom, which is bonded a locksmith. And he owns a business, you can visit at 7352 15th Avenue Northwest. This may seem too obvious to note, but it sets out Mr. Strom of more than 90 percent of its local competitors.According to Yelp, there are - no kidding - nearly 3,000 locksmiths in Seattle, but with rare exceptions such operations are not at all in Seattle. You might assume that the lead gen sites would be no competition for the likes of Bob Strom. But for a couple of years, in a crucial area, they were crushing it: Google search results. Last Tuesday, the Haggler typed "emergency locksmith Seattle" in a browser, and the first results - specifically, the seven who appeared in the coveted spots Google Sites, which are marked on a map - seemed to lead to sites GEN.They have local addresses, but if you call and ask to visit, they hesitate. The Haggler asked Doug Pierce digital due diligence, a research firm based in Brooklyn on the Internet, to address the issue. Mr. Pierce indicated that lead gen sites use some interesting hints of charm and fool Google's algorithm. Some hack essentially local addresses of the other entities in or near the middle of the city. A company called 24-hour emergency service fast, for example, uses the same address as the administration building of King County. Other sites, found Mr. Pierce, are simply dressed for maximum visibility in Google. In particular, lead GEN are good sites to spread their name, address and telephone number - PAN, as it is called in the research sector - around the Web, which is apparently a great way to attract Places favors Google. Tuesday, a search of the PNA emergency service key Guard donated over 1700 results. However, a search for Ballard gave PAN 256. Of course, it is not only a problem in Seattle. GEN lead sites dominate Google results for Locksmiths in many cities, and more than a few cities. And it's not just locksmiths.
